Cargo transport, Dubai
Jasim Shah Cargo — Transport ERP
A desktop ERP that brings trips, fleet, customers and billing into one system.
What was going wrong
Transport is run on paperwork. Trips, vehicles, customers and the dates that matter are tracked by hand, across books and spreadsheets that never meet. Generic business software does not fit the way the industry works, so operators either force their business into it or stay on paper.
What I built
A desktop ERP for transport operations, designed and built end to end. Trips, fleet, customers and billing run in one system, with the paperwork the business depends on produced from the same records and sent in a click. It works on a local machine, keeps its own backups with a tested one-step restore, and runs in three languages. Built as a product rather than a one-off: it installs, updates and is now in use beyond the company it was written for.
What changed
- Work that lived across books and spreadsheets runs in one system
- The state of the operation is visible at a glance, not reconstructed
- Records survive hardware failure: automatic backups, an off-site copy, a tested restore
- Shipped as a product, with its own setup and update path, and sold to other operators
Built with
- Python 3.12
- PySide6 (Qt)
- PostgreSQL
- ReportLab PDFs
- Automatic backups
